Workout Less with Strength Training

If it was only so easy…. I just workout 2x a day + 7x a week and get shredded – unfortunately this does not work. This is what we call overtraining and many of us are guilty of it. Your body needs time to recover and build.

In order to hit peak performance, you must take into account the importance of the following:
1. Sleep (7+ hrs)
2. Recovery (hydration, stretching, and mobility)
3. Nutrition
4. Workouts

Hear me out. I get my most ripped with LESS exercise.

Seriously, when I want to get the most shredded I’m doing 3x strength workouts per week + walking every day.

I also like 3 days per week for improvement in overall strength.

The 6+ day per week training trend is overrated and for most people does not produce results

Fast forward to today’s gym culture. Hitt only gyms. Lightweights. Lift every day, Training for marathons etc…

The irony about all of this…The more calories you burn while training, the more your body compensates by burning fewer calories the rest of the day.

This is why I don’t do a lot of cardio.

There is even a term for metabolism slowdown from cardio:

“Cardio compensation”.

The body compensates and it’s NOT a good thing if you want to get ripped.

What I find is that cardio causes a lot of guys to become “skinny fat”. Excessive cardio shrinks their muscles and they are unable to lose stubborn body fat (because of slowed metabolism and increased appetite).

This sucks because the harder they try to force off body fat… the more likely they are to become skinny fat.

It’s better to lift heavy 3x times per week to maximize muscle…I know it can be hard to limit yourself to 3 lifting sessions per week if you are used to more. Trust me, I GET it.

When I was younger I spent 6+ days per week in the gym and while I felt fit, my body didn’t represent the amount of work I put in.

Everything changed when I cut back my workouts to 3 strength training sessions per week

Even if it doesn’t sound like enough work PLEASE give this approach a try.
● 3 resistance training sessions per week
● Eat-in a calorie deficit
● Walk daily
● Sleep 7+ hours

It will be life-changing for you – I promise

How to get more Athletic with Strength Training

I remember reading a funny article years ago. It was about how a lot of people believe they are much faster than they actually are. They typically brag about running a 4.4 40-yard dash back in high school or college. They pull a full-blown “Uncle Rico”.             The article explained
