What is Team Training? The Power of Working out Together

As a former Division 1 soccer player, I’ve experienced firsthand what it means to train as a team. The camaraderie, accountability, and drive to push each other beyond limits are what make team training so powerful. But team training isn’t just for athletes—it’s for anyone who wants to maximize their fitness potential and train with purpose.

The Definition of Team Training

Team training is more than just working out in a group. It’s a structured, goal-driven approach to fitness that builds strength, endurance, and mental toughness—while fostering a sense of community. Whether it’s a sports team preparing for a season or a group of individuals trying to hit their PRs or lose that stubborn inch, team training is about shared effort, shared motivation, and shared success.

Why Team Training Works—Even If You Don’t Think You’re An Athlete

  1. Accountability & Motivation
  2. Training with a team means you don’t quit when it gets hard—you push through because others are counting on you. Just like on the soccer field, when one player works harder, the rest follow. That same energy translates into the gym.

  1. Competition Breeds Growth
  2. A little friendly competition fuels progress. Seeing your teammates push through challenges inspires you to work harder, lift heavier, and run faster. The drive to improve doesn’t just come from within—it comes from the people training alongside you.

  1. Structured & Effective Workouts
  2. There’s no getting lazy when your team is counting on you. Our team training classes in Santa Monica are designed for efficiency and performance so you can make the most of our sixty minutes together. Every drill, rep, and movement has a purpose—whether it’s building explosive power, increasing endurance, or improving functional strength.

  1. Mental Toughness & Resilience
  2. One of the biggest lessons I learned from my Division 1 soccer career is that mental strength is just as important as physical strength. Team training pushes you to work through discomfort, stay disciplined, and develop the resilience needed to overcome obstacles—both in fitness and life.

  1. Community & Support
  2. Fitness is a journey, and having a team behind you makes that journey much more rewarding. When you train with others, you build friendships, celebrate victories together, and create a support system that helps you stay consistent.
