Building a Community of Strength and Wellness

Sweat 60, is a dedication to a passion, and a desire to create a community-focused fitness and strength gym. Founded in 2018 in Santa Monica, California, Sweat 60 has grown from a vision into a fitness destination.

Sweat 60 was born from the lifelong passion for fitness held by its founder, Kevin Atkinson. A former Division I Soccer Player at Oregon State University, Kevin’s commitment to physical excellence was evident from a young age. With a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Sport and Science under his belt, he set out on a journey that would shape the course of his life.

Kevin’s passion evolved into a vision: a space where fitness could thrive, grounded in community support and personalized training.

Family is at the core of Sweat 60’s identity. Co-owner Courtney Atkinson, Kevin’s wife, was not just a supportive partner but the first trainer to be brought on board. Their shared commitment to wellness created the perfect foundation for the gym’s growth. Their family expanded to include two wonderful boys, Koda and Cru, who continue to inspire the journey.

Sweat 60’s concept emerged after an exploration of various fitness centers across Los Angeles. Kevin, driven by a desire to provide something different, recognized a gap that needed to be filled. It became evident that there was a need for a fitness experience that combined the intensity of strength training with the camaraderie of a close-knit community. From its inception, Sweat 60 has thrived as a hub of like-minded individuals united by a common goal: to become the best versions of themselves. The emphasis on community support, guided by Kevin and Courtney’s passion, has shaped the gym’s identity. With a diverse range of personal training, team training, and nutrition programs tailored to all fitness levels, Sweat 60 embodies inclusivity and growth.
