Strength training is a method of conditioning that involves the progressive use of resistive loads. In other words, it’s using muscular force against resistance. This can be bodyweight, bands, kettlebells, barbells, free weights, etc..
Strength training is also progressive overload – your muscles adapt to the load you exert and will constantly rebuild themselves to get stronger. For that reason, you’ll need to lift heavier or add an additional rep consistently in your workout programming.

Strength Training Myth
Running on the treadmill may help you lose body fat, but if your goal is to achieve a toned and healthy physique while increasing lean body mass and reducing body fat, strength training is the way to go.
Yes – Strength training may cause you to gain weight. But it’s important to remember that muscle is denser than fat (meaning that it takes up less space on your body). If you are losing fat, but gaining muscle, you can stay the same weight or even gain some, while slimming down. The more muscle you have, the higher your metabolism is which means burning more calories and fat over time (even after a workout!)
